MEASURE WITH CONFIDENCE

Find the Right Curtain Size

A few simple measurements can make all the difference. Follow this guide to choose the right curtain width, length, and panel quantity for your window.

STEP 1: Measure the Rod or Track Width

Measure the full usable width of the installed curtain rod or track, excluding decorative finials.

If the hardware is not installed yet, measure the outer width of the window frame and add at least 6 inches on each side for better coverage and easier opening.

Record the final measurement in inches.

STEP 2: Calculate Your Curtain Width

First, check the curtain header style.

For grommet, back-tab, and rod-pocket curtains, choose a combined flat curtain width approximately 1.5 to 2 times the rod or track width.

For our pre-formed pinch-pleat curtains, compare the combined finished panel width directly with your rod or track width. Do not multiply the finished width again.

Example:
48" rod width × 2 = 96" total curtain width needed.

A set of two 52"W panels provides 104" of total flat width.

STEP 3: Measure the Curtain Length

Measure from the actual hanging point to the position where you want the curtain hem to end.

For grommet and back-tab curtains, measure from the curtain rod.

For hooks, rings, and track systems, measure from the hook or carrier position.

For a clean floor-length look, choose a length that ends at or just above the floor.

For short windows or windows with furniture underneath, choose a sill-length option.

STEP 4: Check the Panel Quantity

Always check the Package Includes section before selecting a size.

Set of 2: Multiply the listed panel width by two to calculate the total width included.
Example: 52"W per panel × 2 panels = 104" total width.

1 Panel: The listed width is the total width included in the package.
Example: 72"W × 1 panel = 72" total width.

Some wide sizes are available as single panels in select colors only. Confirm the selected color, width, and package quantity before ordering.

Which measurement unit should I use?

Use the same measurement unit shown on the product page.

Topfinel curtain sizes are generally listed in inches. If you measure in centimeters or millimeters, convert the measurement carefully before selecting a size.

Measure each dimension twice before placing your order.

Should I measure the window or the existing rod?

If you are keeping your existing curtain rod or track, measure the full usable width of that fitting.

For a curtain rod, measure between the decorative finials. Do not include the finials in the measurement.

If you are installing new hardware, measure the outer width of the window frame and add at least 6 inches on each side for better coverage and easier opening.
